How It Works

One does not simply walk into Mordor – and one does not simply conduct a festival dedicated to ideas. In order to really get the most valuable ideas, the hidden gems that are deeply buried in the drawers of your organisation, you have to give very good reasons to your innovators why they should open up.

That’s the main reason why we created a detailed 6-step-plan that wilkl enable you not only to prepare, but also successfully hold and follow-up an event that will defiinitely boost your innovation game and value creation.

Here’s how it works:

1. Collection

First of all, it is important to make the added value and the principle of the event known within the company or organizational unit. The actual collection of ideas should then be done through an easily accessible, easy-to-use platform.

2. Selection

The second step is to select from the collected ideas those that will be exhibited and presented at the main event. This task can be done either by a dedicated team (jury model) or by the entire organization (crowdfunding model).

3. Preparation

In step three, it is important to prepare the ideas in an appealing and presentable way. This includes not only the textual but also the visual design. In addition to a key visual, decorative style elements can also be used, for example, to pick up on and illustrate individual aspects of the idea.

4. Presentation

The presentation of the selected and prepared ideas is one of the two focal points of the event. In addition to an exhibition, individual ideas can also be presented here in the form of short pitches or presentations. The context in which these presentations will take place and in front of which participants should be determined before or during the selection phase.

5. Resurrection

he second, important focus of the event is the active engagement with the exhibited and/or presented ideas. Within the framework of small, short workshops and stand-up discussions, ideas are reanimated in various ways. Only in exceptional cases is the idea reactivated exactly as it is.

Normally, a re-animation consists more of a

  • Integration (into existing or upcoming projects)
  • Combination (with other ideas)
  • Adaptation (adaptation to current requirements and framework conditions) or
  • Inspiration (incitement to a completely new idea)

One of the decisive factors at this stage is the appreciation of both the original idea and the person who gave the idea. The active engagement and positive resumption of dead ideas not only prevents them from dying and disappearing for good3, but also changes the framing in dealing with unrealized ideas from "failure" to "appreciation" and "recognition".

6. Documentation

After the conclusion of the actual event, an in-depth analysis is carried out not only of the event itself (participation, engagement, number of ideas submitted and exhibited) but also on the qualitative level of the ideas themselves. For example, an analysis of the most common "causes of death" can serve as an occasion for a transformation process. Or the accumulation of certain fields of innovation opens up previously untapped business potential through business area expansions.

However, it is important that a timely, intensive and transparent follow-up is carried out. The importance of the thanks and appreciation of the submitters and presenters should not be underestimated.
